Job Description

We're on the hunt for a dynamic professional with outside sales experience to join our Real Estate Team as an Account Manager. Through engaging and persuasive outreach, presentations, meet-and-greets and more, you'll build and strengthen client relationships and close sales designed to meet (and exceed) The Washington Post's revenue goals. It's a fast-paced, deadline-driven sales environment in which you'll be responsible for a portfolio of more than 50 active accounts-plus the other new accounts you develop. Challenging, stimulating and highly rewarding, this is a critical sales position that demands the talent and dedication of an expert.

Responsibilities include:
  • Manage/grow existing account list with more than 50 active accounts
  • Analyze clients' and prospects' advertising/marketing needs and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Seek out opportunities to drive incremental sales while managing existing business
  • Achieve/exceed personal sales goals as set by manager
  • Build/maintain strong client relationships
  • Maintain complete records on active/historic advertiser activity using salesforce.com
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends as they pertain to your accounts
  • Build revenue through out-bounding/cold calls to existing/potential clients
  • Meet/exceed monthly performance metrics as determined by manager
  • Problem-solve and respond to the needs of our advertisers in a professional manner


Requirements include:
  • 2-3 years of outside sales experience (desired)
  • Understanding of real estate industry (desired)
  • Experience selling print and digital advertising (desired)
  • Ability to successfully make sales presentations and close sales over the phone and in-person to existing/prospective clients
  • Excellent skills in organization, time management and follow-through
  • Ability to effectively manage/service approximately 50+ existing accounts
  • Ability to make cold calls over the phone and build new client relationships
  • Superior skills in verbal/written communication and customer service
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Proven ability to communicate in a creative, persuasive style
  • Ability to handle stress in a deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to work toward/beyond sales goals and exceed past performance
  • Experience using salesforce.com (desired)
