Manager III – Public Safety Data Support

Montgomery County Government seeks a highly skilled and motivated information technology (IT) manager to support the critical Public Safety Data Systems (PSDS) team managing the 911 data infrastructure and data systems.  The PSDS team’s primary responsibility is to support and manage the end-to-end public safety system and hosting platforms supporting the County’s critical 911 services.  The PSDS manager oversees all aspects of IT operations including: Cyber Security, Network and Firewall Controls, Virtualization, Operating Systems, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Databases, Servers, Interfaces, Workstations, and Public Safety Data Applications.  PSDS operates and manages two datacenters, including fail-over activities to ensure Continue of Operations for 911 service, 200+ physical and virtual servers, 2,000+ fixed and mobile devices deployed in law-enforcing and emergency management services vehicles. PSDS supports multiple public safety business systems including Computer Aid Dispatch and Records Management System.  The team’s skillsets encompass expertise in System Administration, Database Administration, Change Management, Cyber Security, GIS, and Network Management. 

The PSDS manager’s key duties include leading policies & procedures development, change management practices, software management, customer support, systems security management, datacenter and systems infrastructure management, application build deployments, 24/7 on-call support, IT operations management, and vendor relationships. The PSDS manager responsibilities include staff development, and performance management.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent management, technical leadership and supervisory skills that are required to manage a technical team, collaborate with functional staff, vendors and customers to complete projects and initiatives in a timely, professional and high-quality manner. The candidate must have excellent technical, communication and customer service skills; a strong process orientation; and demonstrated experience in leading a technical team and working in high pressure business critical environment.
