The University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business is seeking a well-qualified Program Manager of Marketing and Annual Giving to join the Office of Development and Alumni Relations. One of 13 schools and colleges located on the University of Maryland, College Park campus, the Smith School is a recognized leader in management research and education for the global economy. Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) within the Robert H. Smith School of Business, the Program Manager will plan, manage, oversee and analyze the direct response marketing program and its related communication strategies including direct mail, telemarketing, public relations, social media/web based solicitation and other special annual giving efforts. She/he will interact with donors and prospects at all levels as this role will maintain a portfolio of key donors that are part of the leadership annual giving pipeline development strategy for a robust major gift program. They will serve as key ambassador for the organization with both internal and external partners.

Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of experience in direct marketing and /or fundraising required, preferably working with annual funds including comprehensive multi-channel appeals. Proven capability to manage and prioritize multiple complex projects simultaneously and independently. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: subject matter expert in direct marketing practices and techniques, including test strategies, segmentation strategies, and measurements of results.

 

Familiar with existing and emerging technologies and strategies related to direct response marketing; experience managing relationships with a diverse population that may include students, alumni, parents and friends. Excellent written, verbal, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with high level of accuracy; experience serving as a project manager that develops and executes a plan, which may include work with vendors. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a business school setting preferred.
