Educational Technology Assistant - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Educational Technology Assistant is responsible for executing and coordinating the technical aspects of lecture capture, editing and publishing for related GUMC programs. Duties include but are not limited to:The incumbent supports faculty and staff in the use of academic teaching tools (software and hardware). Works to address the pedagogical implications of teaching in hybrid and blended programs and support faculty and staff in the use of online course management systems. Explores new teaching technology and facilitate the acquisition and use of educational technology. Duties include but are not limited to:

Lecture Capture
  • Capture/editing/publishing/troubleshooting/archiving/retrieval of lecture captures for Downtown section of SMP use, as well as use in related programs including SMP, "regular" MS in Physiology and, occasionally, ABS Certificate program.

Educational Technology Support
  • Support and training of faculty in educational technology necessary for delivery of programs listed above
  • Work with individual faculty or faculty groups to produce specific educational material, including podcasts, create/edit online content and tools for Canvas or other learning management systems necessary for delivery of the programs above
  • Assist Special Master's Program faculty and staff and Office of Medical Education staff in various activities including setting up and monitoring online testing for SMP students, setting up, monitoring and updating discussion boards, etc. for SMP, SMP Downtown and "regular" MS in Physiology students as necessary.

Administrative and Technical Support
  • Maintain hardware and software necessary for performance of task above
  • Prepare orders for necessary supplies and maintain licenses and access agreements
  • Coordinate activities and events related to special programs including scheduline of meetings, room reservation, coordinating a/v
  • Perform research and testing related to program development
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the Associate Dean and Assistant Vice President for Special Graduate Programs

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in a field directly relevant to educational technology or have equivalent workplace experience in technology.
  • At least one year of general work experience is required, along with demonstrable experience in the use of MAC OS and Windows operating system, learning management system (Canvas or Blackboard), Microsoft Office, and other commonly used office software. Ability to adapt to a fluid work environment with changing schedules and deadlines is a must.
  • Experience with lecture capture, video capture and editing, audience response technology and similar educational technologies is a plus. Work experience in an educational environment is preferred.
