The Office of Inspector General (OIG), U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), seeks a Senior Telecommunications Advisor. OIG’s mission is to improve the programs and operations of the Department of Commerce through independent and objective oversight. The OIG conducts audits, investigations, and evaluations to detect waste, fraud, and abuse, as well as promote economy, effectiveness, and efficiency in government. The Senior Advisor will be responsible for performing telecommunications duties related to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the First Responder Network Authority (FirstNet), an independent authority within NTIA responsible for establishing a nationwide, interoperable Nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network (NPSBN). Those duties include providing thought leadership for comprehensive oversight planning, expert opinion on telecommunications engineering policy and performance issues, and operational direction to OIG on wireless, satellite, broadband and spectrum related projects within DOC.
