Senior Assistant Dean of Program Planning - School of Continuing Studies (SCS)
The Senior Assistant Dean of Program Planning position sits within the Dean's Office at SCS , reporting to the Chief of Staff, and oversees several important functions, focusing specifically on market research and program development work on behalf of the School. These areas are essential to the continued function, growth, and/or improvement of the school, as described below:
- Market Research - Leads market research for all new program development and program revisions taking place across the School. Will evaluate current market research practices within the School and will implement new processes and tools as necessary to continually improve the market research process and to follow changes and best practices. Market research work will include quantitative and qualitative work.
- Program Development- Oversees the program development process for the School and leads the program development process for credit-bearing programs specifically. This work follows on from the market research component of the role and includes concept identification/validation, research and engagement with stakeholders, and curriculum design. Responsible for writing proposals for new credit-bearing degree/certificate programs as needed and successfully navigating them through the University's approval processes, including making presentations to various approval bodies. Responsible for becoming the School's expert on University governance procedures, and accreditation and compliance issues as they pertain to new program launch.
- Program Review and Redesign - Works closely with School leadership to design and implement a thorough program review process to constantly monitor the health of existing academic programs, to identify opportunities to improve or redirect academic programs, and to pivot or close programs as needed. Leads any market analysis work that is required and will be responsible for developing a holistic review of the business side of academic programs (in partnership with the Senior Associate Dean of Faculty and Academic Affairs, who will lead the academic portion of the review).
- External Program Review Process - Serves as the primary liaison with the Office of the Provost for external program reviews that take place each year. Includes serving as a project management resource for academic programs undergoing the review.
This position will also be involved in special projects within the Dean's Office on an as-needed basis.
Qualifications
- Master's degree
- 5+ years' work experience.
- Experience in higher education, product development, and/or market research strongly desired.
- Advanced knowledge of all Microsoft Office products.
- Must be highly motivated and eager to work in a team-dependent environment.
- Highly developed writing and communications skills, and ability to work in complex, growing organizations a must. Must be able to work with limited supervision and comfortable delivering on time-sensitive assignments.
- Must have experience in managing projects that cut across an organization, and show a history of ability to utilize project management tracking tools.
- Strong analytical skills.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with market research and market demand analysis.
