Job Description

Our world-class Ad Operations department, whose responsibility is to ensure the seamless creation and deployment of all ads that appear in print products from The Washington Post, is searching for an experienced and reliable Production Coordinator.

In this critical role, you'll provide tactical support and information to advertisers, sales and service representatives through coordinating and processing ad materials; researching and troubleshooting production and publication issues; managing several department schedules to ensure that all key deadlines are met; proofing ad materials for accuracy; and contributing to other departmental tasks and projects as needed. It's a challenging and rewarding position-one that demands an individual for whom multitasking and problem solving are ways of life.

Responsibilities
• Handle requests for information and coordinate materials for classified, ROP and special sections, and layouts
• Receive process advertising materials efficiently and accurately
• Arrange for tear sheets and proof delivery
• Help to ensure daily deadlines for ad delivery and ad page production are met
• Research problems associated with ad production and/or publication errors
• Coordinate production with Makeup, Sales and Service teams on initiatives related to all Washington Post print products
• Coordinate/manage production deadlines, product setup, ad template creation and product configurations
• Coordinate delivery/creation of ad materials and final products to completion
• Proof ad materials, determine traffic for internal/external ad creation and ensure layout provided by makeup is followed, and coordinate corrections to ad content and page layout
• Coordinate production schedules through departments and with prepress/printing vendors
• Respond to customer complaints about production
• Assist in orienting/training new team members
• Participate in the assessment of team operations and recommend process improvements

Requirements
• 2-4+ years of relevant work experience
• Proficiency with Adobe CS, Excel, Word, ad tracking systems and Lotus Notes
• Ability to handle multiple demands calmly and efficiently, while maintaining attention to detail
• Excellent skills in verbal/written communication, including the ability to defuse tense situations
• Ability to adapt to requirements of a constantly changing job
• Ability to work effectively and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Knowledge and understanding of production processes
• Experience in resolving billing and other accounting related issues
• History of taking personal responsibility to make sure jobs are complete
