The Associate Director, Assessment Programs & Student Development (position 102376) will take a leadership role in the management of all aspects of the daily operations of the Office of Multi-Ethnic Student Education, UMD. The job responsibilities include ensuring the timely completion of assessment projects, routine and ad hoc data collection, data analysis, data reporting, and dissemination to answer internal and external requests; budgetary oversight to ensure a highly functional office; collaborating with appropriate consortia and representing the Department on various committees on a departmental, division, and University-wide level; serving as a liaison for the Department; supervision of professional, graduate assistant and student workers to include search, selection, on-boarding, and oversight; mediation and resolution of interpersonal conflict; keeping abreast of trends and issues pertaining to higher education in order to assist Department leadership; assisting staff in creating innovative student programs and events designed to foster a climate of advocacy for diversity on campus to enhance the matriculation, retention, academic success, and graduation for multi-ethnic students; working collaboratively with the Director to advance programmatic effectiveness, innovation, and visibility, and other related duties as assigned by the Director of the Office of Multi-ethnic Student Education.


The successful candidate will possess at least a master’s degree in higher education, student personnel, cultural studies, or related field. 

Experience: 5-7 years of related work experience in higher education setting, preferably within the field of assessment, multicultural education, and/or academic affairs.

Preferred skills include: A demonstrated knowledge of assessment techniques and software programs, strategies, and data analysis, editing documents as well as 4 years of supervisory experience is also preferred. The successful candidate must have experience working with a wide range of racial/ethnic groups as well as other underrepresented populations. Excellent human relations, interpersonal, organizational, written and oral skills are essential.
