DUTIES:  University of Maryland College Park – The Coordinator-Recruitment, Retention and Outreach will support the Department of Fire Protection Engineering (FPE) undergraduate student population.  The Department of Fire Protection Engineering has experienced a record amount of growth in the undergraduate program and the A. James Clark School of Engineering has tasked the department to continue this growth.

Responsibilities for the Coordinator position includes administering and providing support for retention and outreach events/programs including the FPE Design Challenge; leading the recruitment efforts of the Department and supervising the FPE Ambassador program.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful applicants shall have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of two years of full-time related higher education experience. A Master’s degree in Higher Education or Student Affairs may substitute for 2 years of experience. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail,

experience with technological systems to efficiently perform tasks (i.e. mail merge, mass communication, database creation and management), and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.  Successful candidates will possess enthusiasm and a positive approach to work, excellent rapport with diverse groups of people, along with a commitment to the development of the recruitment initiative of the Department and the retention of current students in the major
