    Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector.

    For this position, specialized experience is at least one year of experience, equivalent in responsibility to the GS-7 level in the Federal service, (a) editing texts on art or museum-related topics for a publishing house or publishing office, or (b) at least two (2) full academic years of graduate level education, with at least 15 semester hours in art or museum-related studies or (c) a combination of graduate education in art or museum-related studies and GS-7 experience editing texts on art or museum-related studies for a publishing house or publications office, which equal at least one year.

    Other Relevant Eligibility Criteria: Knowledge of the arts and writing about the arts, as well as knowledge of one or more foreign languages, preferably French, German, or Italian.

    Ability to edit and proofread texts for conformance to relevant guides and standards.

    Ability to work within publication processes for both print and digital production. 

    Knowledge of the history of art, with skill for reading and understanding specific European languages.

    Time-in-Grade: Current Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement to receive consideration under merit promotion procedures.
