  • Eligibility Requirements
    You must be a current student in an accredited high school, college (including 4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate. Please Note: Your participation in the Internship Program will expire 120 days after you complete all course study requirements leading to a Bachelor or Master's degree, unless you complete at least 640 hours of work experience during the Program and are converted to a permanent Competitive Service position. In order to be considered for this position, you must meet the eligibility requirement shown above and minimum qualifications shown below, as well as complete the online Assessment Questionnaire.

    Minimum Qualifications

    For the GS-6 level, you must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-5 level in the Federal service (a combination of education and experience will be considered).

    For the GS-7 level, you must have completed one full academic year of graduate level education or possess superior academic achievement and a bachelor's degree; OR have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 level.

    For the GS-8 level, you must have one-year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level (a combination of education and experience will be considered).

    Examples of specialized experience may include utilizing various automated systems and software to complete tasks; maintaining a chronological filing system; working with senior staff to compile and prepare records and cases for hearings or Court; ordering supplies and other office furniture; and handling sensitive or classified records that require special treatment.

    Please Note: The grade-level determination for task you perform will be based on the complexity of tasks performed and how much supervision or independence was exercised in performing tasks.

    You must complete all academic degrees and coursework at a college or university that has obtained accreditation or pre-accreditation status from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
