The McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University is a top-ranked public policy school located in the center of the policy world in Washington, D.C. Our mission is to teach our students to help design, analyze, and implement smart policies and put them into practice in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, in the U.S. and around the world. The Assistant Director of Admissions assists with identifying and implementing strategic pipelines for recruiting, representing the school at recruiting events domestically and internationally. S/he communicates with prospective applicants and admitted students through events, webinars, interviews, and email, as well as facilitates the Admissions Review process. Reporting to and working closely with the Associate Director of Admissions and the Director of Admissions on initiatives related to recruiting and admissions both domestically and internationally, the Assistant Director of Admissions has additional duties that include but are not limited to:

Recruiting and Marketing
  • Identifies and engages new partnership opportunities for recruiting high quality students.
  • Reviews, updates, and creates recruiting materials including brochures, recruiting letters, email campaigns, and materials for partnership engagement, representing McCourt at conferences, forums, or other recruiting events for the purposes of recruiting applicants.
  • Contributes to the systematic and efficient handling of communication with prospective applicants including scheduling and conducting on-campus and phone/Skype interviews, coordinating class visits, connecting applicants to students and alumni, and responding to email inquiries.
  • Works with the Admissions Ambassadors program and groups of current students and alumni to assist with admissions events and improve outreach to prospective and admitted students.
  • Coordinates with Student Affairs, Academics, Career Services, and Alumni Engagement to involve students and alumni in the recruiting process, conveying comprehensive information to prospective applicants.


Admissions
  • Contributes to the effective management of the Admissions Review Process, including compiling review information, coordinating logistics for Admissions Review Committee meetings, and communicating admissions guidelines and policies to Admissions Committee members.
  • Tracks applications to ensure required materials are submitted and compiled throughout the review process.
  • Coordinates interviews with applicants to engage top quality applicants, answer inquiries, and verify materials and information.
  • Advises on the allocation of scholarship awards and facilitates submission and updates of the scholarship budget to the Graduate Financial Aid Office.
  • Processes admissions decisions in admissions database and verifies admissions decisions with scholarship decisions.
  • Implements and manages yield engagement and communication plan, communicating with admitted students through individual correspondence as well as large scale yield campaigns.
  • Creates email templates for faculty, current students, and alumni to engage admitted students, working closely with the Associate Director of Admissions to track offers, accepts, and declines.
  • Advises on the management of Priority Wait List and Wait List in accordance with accept/decline decisions.
  • Contributes to the planning and facilitation of Admitted Student Days which host over 200 prospective students each year.
  • Implements a communication plan throughout summer to minimize summer melt and prepare incoming students for Orientation and start of classes.


Collateral Duties
  • Collaborates with the Director of Admissions and Associate Director for Marketing & Recruitment and Director of Communications regarding the content management of the Admissions section of the McCourt Website.
  • Works in collaboration with the Director of Admissions and Associate Director for Marketing & Recruitment and the Director of Communications in developing appropriate admissions and marketing materials, ads, mailings, web pages and publications that effectively promote McCourt to prospective students.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree; Master's preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in student admissions, recruitment, student affairs, or a related field
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with admissions software, specifically Banner, ApplyYourself and/or Slate is highly desirable
