Job Details

This role will primary be focused on completing IT accounting functions and the Community Benefit financial reporting for Adventist HealthCare's (AHC) hospitals to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and Maryland's Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC). This role will also assist in some tax assignments, as needed. This Staff Accountant will be part of a team that focuses on IT accounting, Community Benefit financial reporting, and tax functions.

IT Accounting:
1. Completes the monthly financial close process for all system-wide IT support services and adheres to the monthly closing schedule.
2. Responsible for the preparation of quarterly projections related to IT support services.
3. Assist in the preparation of the annual operating, capital, and depreciation budgets for IT.
4. Responsible for the year-end true-up and reconciliation of total IT costs to budget, and the settlement of associated cash and receivable balances.
5. Prepares IT related balance sheet reconciliations and other account analysis and prepares standard journal entries.
6. Prepares and maintains detail capital reports for IT projects and reconciles them to the general ledger.
7. Responsible for the monthly tracking of vendor contracts and spending, including maintenance and capital contracts, while maintaining open communication with vendors.
8. Responsible for the weekly review and coding of Cerner invoices in accordance with signed contracts.
9. Prepares annual external audit workpapers on an as needed basis.
10. Motivated to deliver exceptional customer service in the role of liaison to entity leadership.
11. Responds to customer requests for information with clear and timely communication.
12. Clearly communicates with direct supervisor(s) on current tasks to meet deadlines and expectations.
13. Assist with other IT accounting functions as needed.

Community Benefit Financial Reporting:
1. Play a key role in the compilating of the Community Benefit financial reporting for AHC's hospitals to the IRS and Maryland's HSCRC.
2. Responsible to communicate with several internal personnel, mostly at AHC's hospitals, to ensure accurate data collection.
3. Responsible to track and document data collection communication status and proactively follow up for requested data.
4. Responsible to document and create supporting workpapers of data received.
5. Review the annual HSCRC Community Benefit guidelines, to understand what counts and what does not count and to stay abreast of any new requirements.
6. Responsible to understand the functionalities of the Community Benefit Inventory for Social Accountability (CBISA) software and look for ways to improve efficiencies. Attend CBISA webinars periodically.
7. Communicate frequently with the Center for Health Equity & Wellness (The Center) department to discuss CBISA deadlines and collection of data from hospital personnel.
8. Attend quarterly Community Benefit steering committee meetings and prepare slides to present.
9. Attend internal meetings with the team to review overall progress.
10. Responsible to analyze, document, and communicate data variances from prior years.
11. Be able to extract data and run reports in Workday.
12. Hold meetings with hospital leaders to review Community Benefit data and prepare for those meetings by compiling a package of documents, including notes and graphs.
13. Follow up on comments from hospital leaders and provide a finalized package when the Community Benefit reporting is completed.
14. Comply with internal and external deadlines.
15. Assist with providing the Community Benefit financial reporting data to multiple groups, such as Marketing, The Center, the IRS, and Maryland's HSCRC.

Tax Duties:
1. Assist with communicating to internal departments to collect data for various state and federal tax returns.
3. Assist with entering tax data into the ProSystem fx Tax software.
4. Assist in the preparation of Maryland annual reports and personal property tax returns.
5. Assist with Maryland real and personal property tax bills and ensure payments are submitted timely.
6. Assist with other special tax projects as needed.
