Job Summary:
Westat is seeking a senior study director who will work as a senior survey methodologist. You will be joining an interdisciplinary team of leading survey managers, methodologists, statisticians, and researchers on school and household based studies that assess knowledge and skills of students and adults. These studies have major national U.S. components as well as international activities. For the domestic components, the senior survey director works closely with project directors in managing design, protocol development, recruitment and training of interviewers and assessors, and data collection activities, informing these tasks with a survey methods perspective. For international contracts, the senior study director may also be assigned responsibilities in survey operations, logistics, and quality control.
Job Responsibilities:
· Responsible for various stages of projects as assigned, from design through data collection, reporting, and data delivery.
· Monitoring project schedules and costs.
· Supervising staff.
· Interacting with clients.
Basic Qualifications:
· A Ph.D. in psychology, sociology, survey methods, or a related social science field with 8 years of relevant experience is required.
· Experience as a project director leading all phases of survey and/or evaluation research is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Expertise in quantitative and qualitative research methods.
· Experience managing professional staff on survey projects.
· Experience developing technical and cost proposals.
· Experience monitoring project costs.
· Experience working in a contracting environment.
· Experience collecting and analyzing data from administrative and primary sources.
Candidates should have detailed understanding and demonstrated successful track record establishing and maintaining strong client relationships. Demonstrated success managing and writing winning grant and/or contract proposals and implementing projects. Demonstrated success producing high-quality research products as evidenced by a substantial record of publications and/or reports. You should be able to work in a team environment and have excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
