KBC Careers Purpose and Objective of the Position The Senior Project Manager plans, directs and coordinates activities of designated projects to ensure that the goals or objectives of the project are accomplished within a prescribed time frame and budget. This position manages, leads, and coordinates the activities of the Project Team and all project related activities with the customer. The duration of the project under the Senior Project Manager's leadership is defined from the first request of the customer to the end of the warranty period. Thereafter the project is handed over to the After-Market Dept. Major Duties and Responsibilities Coordinates and monitors activities and action items of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within scope. Supervises direct assignment personnel (project coordinator) Key liaison to customer for the project. Generates all official outgoing correspondence to customer. Reviews, files and distributes all official/ contractual incoming correspondence and ensures closure of actions through the use of E-actions* Generates and maintains an agreed project schedule together with the concerned departments and CoCs, outlining tasks from CDR through FAI. Coordinates the project team to ensure all key milestones are achieved in order to meet the project objectives / customer needs. Calculates and maintains realistic project cost and budget using SAP BSC (target for BSC compliance >90%) Supervises the allocation of the work packages to all relevant departments, Engineering, Engineering services and CoCs to ensure the required design, development, testing and documentation. The work allocations are made by the System engineer and involved CoC Sub-Project Managers (via REDs and manual engineering/requests) The Project Manager has right of approval/refusal. Coordinates design reviews and project meetings with the customer and internal departments to ensure the customer needs are clarified and aligned with the project objectives and clearly communicated to all relevant parties. Effectively manages Accounts Receivables on assigned Projects to meet company goals for the target to have zero percent past due 30 days. Specific Tender Phase Duties Ensuring precise analysis of the customer requirements and task clarification as well as exact definition of the delivery and scope of supply (in collaboration with Systems Engineer and Sales Logistic) Clarify and define measures to achieve internal project targets together with Business Responsible Coordinate the technical concept with the System Engineer and the involved CoCs Ensure contract examination and provision of all clause by clause to customer specifications with comments from all relevant parties (that includes technical, logistics, quality, engineering services, ) Prepare offer release and SDR1 together with the System Engineer Identify risks and derived measures to minimize risk effects together with the Business Responsible Negotiate price, terms and conditions with customer Specific Contract Phase Duties Coordinate together with the system Engineer all design reviews and internal (SDR2) - and external product- and system design freeze (PDR, FDR) Monitors progress of the assigned work packages via project-internal controlling (performance progress, dates, costs, quality) and takes measures against deviations in the plan (if necessary, escalation to Top Management) Regularly monitors delivery schedule together with Sales Logistic to ensure the customer needs are met Effectively manages Accounts Receivables on assigned Projects to meet company goals for the target to have zero percent past due 30 days. Carries out contract management, risk management, claim management, change order management Coordinates FAI, validation and commissioning activities (SCR) together with Engineering and Quality Departments Prepares the necessary warranty support (training, tools, spares,..) together with Engineering and Field Service Departments Brings the project to formal closure and performs Lessons Learned if applicable Required SkillsAcademic Requirements Bachelor's degree required (BA/BS) MBA preferred Professional Requirements Exposure to and understanding of general engineering principles used in the design of brake systems and braking components: Must have good business sense. Estimate costs Proficient with scheduling software Make good business decisions Risk assessments Demonstrated leadership in project environment Knowledge and practical understanding of brake or similar equipment Must understand and practice good organization and configuration management skills Configuration/Change Control Proficient with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project Must be able to clearly define requirements and expectations to others (Customer, Engineers, Operations, etc.) Must be able to work well in a team environment both internally and with customers. Must be an effective negotiator (Internal departments, European partners, Customers) Must have a strong desire to succeed with high expectations, both of themselves and others Must be able to write clear letters/documents to internal and external customers Must be able to read a large volume of material (usually customer contracts, terms and conditions, and specifications) and ascertain the salient points Manage multiple and conflicting priorities. Must have effective communications and presentations skills "Sell themselves and the company" Design Reviews First Article Inspections Must be energetic, hard working and willing to put in an extra effort when required.
