We continue to thrive and need your talent and motivation to help propel us farther, faster. Jacobs has an opportunity for a Network Designer with a TS/SCI Polygraph in Reston, VA. Duties include:Serve as the network engineer supporting a specific Program Management Office and Data Center requirements.Responsible for a full range of complex first article network designs encompassing multiple technologies that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines.Develop robust standards, templates, and network documentation.Support designs through Engineering Review Board and providing concise explanations of the design if required. Identify and register available IP addresses and size the subnets as defined by the customer as well as provide DHCP scopes and Active Directory entries for specific subnets.Utilize tools to analyze and identify End of Life software and hardware equipment in the Data Centers and formulate cost-effective solutions maximizing the use of industry standards and protocols, COTS network appliances and/or open-source software applications to recapitalize enterprise networks.Work with stakeholders to define constraints, develop requirements, create system requirement documents, and concept of operations documentation. Provide engineer-based feedback to ensure requirements are fully understood.Analyze requirements as well as evaluate problems of workflow and organization to plan and develop appropriate corrective action.Produce network device scripts based on partner requirements. Validate scripts for new configurations or unique requirements. Conduct integration and testing of network hardware and software.Assist with development and execution of test plans and supporting documentation of all network configuration upgrades, additions or revisions for customer approval before implementation. Provide implementation support as necessary to include providing on-site support to load scripts and verify the network is operating as expected and satisfactory for the customer.Provide fourth tier support, assisting with troubleshooting and resolving network issues to include trouble resolution for features not operating as advertised. Identify the complex issues and when necessary involve vendor to resolve the unexplainable.Follow all customer network security processes and procedures, ensures compliance with all Government policies. Active TS SCI with Polygraph ClearanceBS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and fourteen (14) years of progressive, relevant experience, or an MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and twelve (12) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system discipline and seven (7) years of progressive experienceTen years of technical network related experience is required.Demonstrated experience with developing design solutions (physical and logical) that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines, writing systemEssential FunctionsPhysical Requirements: Most work will be done at a desk or computer.Work Environment: General Office environment. The work environment is fast-paced and sometimes involves extreme deadline pressures. The nature of the work requires a high degree of teamwork and cooperation with other members of the staff as well as individuals across the Company and Customers.Equipment & Machines: General office equipment including PC/laptop, Fax, Copiers, Shredder, Printers, Telephone, and other miscellaneous office equipmentAttendance: Critical at all times. Must be able to work a 40-hour workweek, normally Monday through Friday. However, times and days may vary depending on business requirements.
