  • Applicants must have one year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to at least the lower range of the NY-2 pay band, which would be at or equivalent to, the GS-7 level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience includes services and supply procurement; property and supply management; facilities and equipment maintenance; and tracking budget related data.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Such experience must be clearly documented in the applicant's resume.

    If you are qualifying based on education alone, you must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree oran LL.B. or J.D., if related. Such education must be from an accredited institution and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work. You must submit an unofficial copy of your college transcript. You must submit evidence that any education completed in a foreign institution is equivalent to U.S. educational standards.

    You may also qualify based on a combination of education and experience, if applicable.

    As an employee on a Term Appointment, you will not acquire competitive status and you will not be covered by the agency's Interchange Agreement with the Office of Personnel Management, which allows for noncompetitive transfer from CNCS to other agencies in the competitive service of the federal government.     NOTE: Status candidates will be considered under the provisions of the Corporation's Human Resources system which allows for:
    1) Non-competitive referral of lateral candidates; and
    2) The separation of status and non-status applicants for referral purposes.

    Status candidates will be referred on one selection list only, i.e., either merit promotion or non-competitive. Nonstatus candidates who are eligible for Noncompetitive referral, e.g. Peace Corps, VRA, etc., will be referred under Noncompetitive procedures only.
