    Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-08, in the Federal Service. This specialized experience must have been in or related to the position, and have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. So, specialized experience is defined as the following:

    • Demonstrated experience executing and coordinating day-to-day administrative support functions necessary to increase the effectiveness of an organization. Experience indicators at this level are as follows: providing telephone and receptionist services to both internal and external Office customers; following-up with staff to confirm Office commitments and/or assignments are met; receiving and managing incoming Office correspondences to include both drafting responses to routine inquiries and referring non-routine matters to appropriate contacts; reviewing and managing outgoing Office correspondences to confirm conformance with policy and procedural requirements, proper format, and clearances; managing Office business calendars including appointments, due dates, commitments, and similar obligations; and, locating and assembling information for Office reports, briefings, and/or conferences.

    AND

    In addition to meeting the specialized experience stated above, and per requirements for Office Automation positions, applicants must possess the proficiency of 40 words per minute typing speed based upon a 5-minute sample with three or fewer errors.

    Education may not be substituted for experience at this level.
