Requirements

The Assistant Director, Professional Certificate Programs provides critical program management and administrative services to non-credit students and faculty at Georgetown University's School for Continuing Studies .

This position supports the School for Continuing Studies (SCS) strategic priorities of: (1) academic excellence and governance 2) programmatic innovation and incubation and 3) student experience. The assistant director will be supporting more than 2000 students and more than 75 faculty members annually to ensure all professional certificate programs run smoothly through operational and administrative tasks. The individual in this role will support the day to day operations of classes and support the entire life-cycle of a non-credit student. In order to support evening and weekend courses, the Assistant Director will be required to work an adjusted schedule (subject to change based on course offerings): Tuesday - Thursday, 8:30 am-5:30 pm, Friday 8:30 am -7:00 pm, Saturday, 8:00 am-12:30 pm, Sunday-Monday- Off.

Seeing as the School of Continuing Studies in in a time of growth, it is important to note that the candidate must be flexible as responsibilities of the position may adjust to support school wide initiatives moving forward. Duties include but are not limited to:

Program Management
  • Manage a portfolio of non-credit certificate programs and offerings to ensure high levels of student, partner, and faculty satisfaction
  • Manage semester scheduling and program details including course descriptions, learning objectives, classroom schedules, faculty contract requests etc.
  • Develop and implement strategies and efficient processes to provide high quality services to students, faculty, and partners
  • Administer and analyze course evaluations, enrollment trends; develop statistical reports and make recommendations for changes
  • Work with the registration system to troubleshoot specific student issues as they arise, including liaise with student accounts to handle third party application and billing processing
  • Prepare reports on student characteristics, course taking patterns, student performance.
  • Participate in preparation of industry specific reaccreditation applications
  • Faculty/ Student Administrative Support
  • Provide assistance to prospective and registered students
  • Liaise with university offices, specifically student accounts department
  • Answer student inquiries related to program logistics and content
  • Provide customer service to prospective and registered students; answer student inquiries related to program logistics and content; help students understand the benefits of premium certificate programs.
  • Develop subject matter expertise and industry knowledge in premium certificate program content verticals
  • Complete administrative and logistical tasks as needed
  • Support certificate auditing and grade change processes
  • Support major events such as open houses, faculty orientation, certificate completion ceremony, career fairs, and others as needed
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, communication, education, or a related field.
  • three to five years of progressive administrative experience in education programming and a demonstrated ability to manage academic programs.
  • Contract and conflict negotiation skills; project management abilities, demonstrated knowledge of the continuing education marketplace; and demonstrated ability to provide very high levels of services and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the use of University faculty and student systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and exhibit a willingness to take the initiative.
  • Highly detail oriented, have the ability to correctly input and analyze data, and be a team player .


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in business, communication, education, or a related field.
