Job Description Uunder the supervision guidance of the Chief Operating Officer,Director of Support Services. Broadmead's Director of Dining and Hospitality is Directly responsible for the total operations of the Broadmead DiningFood Service Department. Responsible for creating and implementing a culture of exceptional dining service and hospitality for residents, their guests, Broadmead guests, Broadmead employees, and Broadmead's Board of Trustees, setting Broadmead apart from other CCRCs. The Director will lead the strategic planning of the dining services program, particularly with regards to renovations, expansion, innovation, new service and program implementation. Proactively and enthusiastically seeks to learn and implement the best practices in the field of life plan community and hospitality dining experiences. Provides professional leadership and management essential for positioning Broadmead's Dining Services as a highly valued asset of the Broadmead community Responsible for ensuring that managers and supervisors of the Dining Food Service Department understand and operate within the guidelines established by Broadmead's Mission Statement and Values. Essential Duties: * Accountable for developing an annual Dining Service department budget. Financially accountable for operating within the agreed upon budget, giving justification to any variances to budget. * Demonstrates effective leadership, a positive attitude and commitment to Broadmead. * Will lead the Dining Department through renovation, expansion, and new program implementation for Broadmead's current Master Plan, strategic plan, and future growth. * Accountable for resident satisfaction with the overall dining service program. * Stays abreast of current industry trends to continually improve the dining experience for Broadmead residents. * Sets expectations, develops plans and manages processes to assess, improve and maintain a high quality dining program on a consistent basis. * Responsible for working in a cooperative manner with Department Directors on interdepartmental matters. * Responsible for working with designated work groups and committees, with regular attendance and participation. * Resolves dining service issues between the Dining Service Department, the BRA Food Service Committee, and residents. * Responsible for developing and, at a minimum, annually reviewing department policies and procedures. Responsible for enforcing and adhering to department policies and procedures. * Accountable for safety, sanitation, security and departmental maintenance program. * Accountable for tracking renewal of all contracts, permits and licenses related to the dining service program. Presents all contracts to the COO for approval. * Insures that dining service performs all services within the guidelines of Broadmead's mission statement, values and contractual agreements. * Responsible for the coordination and communication to dining service staff, Broadmead staff, and residents, plans for residents' care during emergency situations or major projects. * Responsible for evaluating the performance of the dining service managers and the Executive Chef. * Responsible for assisting in their development through coaching, support, teaching, accountability, two-way communication and, when necessary, conducting disciplinary action. * Function as a back up to the managers (and supervisors) when necessary for performing tasks when needed. * Ensures the timely evaluations of all dining service staff. * Accountable for ensuring that all dining service staff complies with Human Resources policies and procedures on a consistent basis. * Ensures that all dining service staff attends required in-service training, certifications and mandatory meetings. * Responsible for communicating departmental needs to consultant dietician. * Responsible for communicating variances in work schedule to COO. * Responsible for evaluating the performance of the Food Service Manager, Equipment & Service Manager, Administrative Manager and the chef. * Responsible for assisting in their development through coaching, providing support, teaching, accountability, two-way communication and when necessary discipline * Responsible for working in a cooperative manner with Department Directors on interdepartmental matters * Responsible for them development and completion of all annual goals that have been agreed upon in advance by the Director of Dining Food Service and the COO.his/her supervisor * Accountable for the development and completion of all annual goals * Responsible for working with designated work groups or committees * Function as a back up to the Managers (and supervisors) when necessary for performing tasks such as; overseeing a particular area during long length absenses, opening or closing of the departmentResponds in a timely manner to email, electronic meeting requests, and COO's requests for communication. * Responsible for communicating departmental needs to both consultant and on site dietitian * Responsible (or designee) for the coordination and communication to Food Service Staff what our plan of action is toward feeding residents during emergency situations or major projects * Responsible for being a major part of the decision making process associated with any changes in the Food Service Department * Accountable for developing an annual Food Service budget that supports the needs of Broadmead's Food Service Department * Financially accountable for staying within the agreed upon budget, giving justification to any area out of budget * Trains and gives performance evaluations to the Food Service Managers * Accountable for the development and completion of all annual goals * Accountable for resident satisfaction with the overall food and service program * Demonstrates effective leadership, a positive attitude and commitment to Broadmead * Resolves food service issues between the Food Service Department and residents * Evaluates annual goals of Chef and all Managers * Ensures the timely evaluations of all Food Service Staff * Ensures that all Food Service Staff attends required in-service training, certifications and mandatory meetings * Accountable for ensuring that all Food Service Staff complies with Human Resource policies and procedures on an ongoing basis * Ensures that discipline throughout the Food Service Department is consistent and fair * Sets expectations, develops plans and manages processes to assess, improve and maintain a high quality food program on an ongoing basis * Accountable for safety, sanitation, security and departmental maintenance program * Accountable for renewal and negotiation of all contracts, permits and license * Insures that Food Service performs all services within the guidelines of Broadmead's Mission Statement, Values and contractual agreements * Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Minimum of a Bachelorn Associates' Degree in either Culinary, Management, Business, Accounting or Hotel and Restaurant Management or related field; * Prosscess a thorough knowledge of hospitality, food service operations, management supervision and customer service;public relations * Knowledge and skills: + Strong interpersonal skills + Supervisory experience (at least 5 to 6 years) + Effective management techniques * Demonstrates effective leadership skills and maintains a positive attitude and commitment to Broadmead * A minimum of five years of dining management experience; * Knowledge of OSHA regulations, sState and fFederal rRegulations and gGuidelines, iInfection cControl sStandards, and HACCP, and regulations for operating under a Class C liquor license; * Must be have basic knowledge of computer literate, and be competent with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and basic Excel worksheets,s and the ability to adapt or be trained on new software;are * Strong written and verbal communication skills. that can be effectively interpreted by those staff persons and residents with whom the Director communicates regularly Additional Information Problem Solving: * Has latitude to cope with most problems * Confers with Chief Operating Officer on unusual issues Accountabilities: * Responsible for creating and implementing a culture of exceptional dining service and hospitality for residents, their guests, Broadmead guests, Broadmead employees, and Broadmead's Board of Trustees, setting Broadmead apart from other CCRCs. * Will maintain a highly visible presence in the Broadmead community, promoting the dining and hospitality services to Residents, staff, and guests. * Provides consistent professional leadership and management essential for positioning Broadmead's Dining Services as a highly valued asset of the Broadmead community Dependability and Initiative Expectations * Reports to work each day on time and as scheduled. * Participates in appropriate in-service education, meeting State in-service requirements. * Actively participates in required meetings, arriving on time unless prior arrangements have been made. * Takes initiative in performing job as evidenced by offering new ideas solutions, informing supervisor of potential problems/hazards, using time, equipment, and supplies efficiently, assuming extra duties willingly, and participating in educational programs to keep abreast of new developments, procedures, and technologies. * Complies with organization's policies and procedures.
