  • You qualify at the GS-08 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: calculating specific calorie and macro nutrient diets for research purposes; performing body composition measurements; educating patients on the nutritional aspects of their research protocol requirements; participating in meetings with nursing and protocol staff to coordinate nutritional care; collecting, organizing, and managing nutrition research data from a variety of sources for research protocols; screening patients for nutritional risk; training junior staff members on nutrition and food service activities; and coordinating with cooks on meal planning in a medical facility.

    B. Completion of two full years of graduate level education that is directly related to the work of the position (i.e. food, nutrition or dietetics).

    A combination of education and specialized experience that meets the qualification requirements for this position.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
