We are currently seeking a motivated, career and customer oriented Practice Director, Border Security to join our team in Reston, VA and Alexandria, VA to begin an exciting and challenging career with Unisys Federal Systems.In this role you will:Serve as the Practice Director for a mission critical program in the Department of Homeland Security that is responsible for delivering a wide variety of solutions. The PD will provide strategic thinking and guidance in the pursuit, development, and maintenance of program solutions. Other responsibilities will include providing subject matter expertise across a portfolio of projects. The position requires strong written, verbal, and presentation skills as there will be frequent interaction with senior US and foreign Government leaders, program leaders, and Unisys executive management. This is a delivery-focused role. Position Responsibilities:* Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues, work in teams, and leverage the resources of other related practices to address client challenges.* Active participation in professional associations and industry roundtables, to become a trusted thought leader in the border security, biometrics, and global homeland security mission space.* Provides team leadership and creativity in development and implementation of services engagements.* Uses strong domain knowledge and expertise to develop Unisys differentiated solutions and go to market strategies. * Serves as a trusted advisor to key CBP, DHS, and Global border security clients. * Establishes strong client relationships, and leverages industry expertise to translate the client's long-range business and mission outcome goals for technical delivery teams. * Assists clients in developing strategy and create innovative client-specific solutions that drive meaningful business change. Requirements Position Requirements:* Business and Industry Skills: o Functions as an expert in one or more domains. Demonstrates marketable expertise in at least two market segments and/or functional/technical areas of specialization. o Communicates in an open, candid, clear, complete and consistent manner. Listens well and gives full attention when others are speaking. Demonstrates maturity, self-confidence and self-control in formal and informal interactions. o Demonstrates marketable expertise in at least two market segments and/or functional/technical areas of specialization. o Maintains absolute integrity while balancing the potentially conflicting objectives of exceeding client expectations for quality and value, appropriately developing professionals within his/her practice. o Utilizes a collaborative working style that stresses teamwork and places the best interests of Unisys over individual and team objectives.* Education/Experience: o Bachelor of Arts or Science degree. o Minimum 20 years of experience working in the law enforcement industry. o Experience leveraging systems for DHS related activities including analytics. o Experience supporting DHS law enforcement goals and objectives. o Experience working and communicating with senior executives. o Experience communicating and leading teams with a wide audience that ranges from senior leaders to project teams. o Experience interacting/communicating with clients in both written and verbal forms and in establishing "trusted advisor" relationships. o Desired knowledge of Entry/Exit operations. o Desired knowledge of investigative and case management systems. o Desired knowledge of vetting processes.Leadership Competencies:The successful candidate must possess strong leadership skills as demonstrated by displaying expertise in, and an understanding of, the various functions that this role oversees.
