Octo Consulting Group has an immediate opening for a Business Analyst to support a large-scale enterprise application for a Federal Government client. Resource must be flexible and thrive in an Agile and highly-collaborative environment. Responsibilities: Analyze existing business processes, scenarios, activities, architecture, and information flow. Analyze, document and describe structures and their relationships in supporting business and providing useful data in applications. Elicit requirements using interviews, document analysis, requirements sessions, surveys, site visits, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis. Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from true underlying needs. Perform impact analysis scenarios and gap analysis activities to identify inefficiencies, redundancies, obsolescence, and technology support gaps. Collaborate with developers and subject matter experts to establish the technical vision and analyze trade-offs between usability and performance needs. Experience creating technical documentation, including design documents, requirement documents, process diagrams, test cases, training material, etc. Design activity/process models using proven methodologies to satisfy client requirements. Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver artifacts as needed. Work independently with users to define concepts and under direction of project managers. Interact in a collaborative fashion with multiple Application Development teams to ensure delivery of quality software products. Use problem solving skills to break down complex situations to discover and resolve root causes. Ability to understand and communicate technical issues related to defects and enhancements. Understand and apply MDM and Business Intelligence concepts. 5+ years of experience in requirement gathering, requirements analysis and requirements development 5+ years of experience in clearly documenting defect information to include analysis, steps to reproduce, and suggested fixes. Working knowledge of Waterfall and Agile software development methodology Strong background in Requirements gathering, analysis and development. Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements. Excellent analytical, written and verbal communications skills. Strong consulting and client management skills with attention to detail. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as needed to achieve results. Demonstrated track record of analytical and critical thinking skills. Organized, motivated and demonstrate the ability to work under minimal supervision to achieve desired objectives. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and provide solutions Ability to interpret a variety of technical information Education: Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field. Location: Silver Spring, MD for client meetings; otherwise, Alexandria, VA Clearance: Must be able to obtain Public Trust clearance. Must have 5 years of consecutive work experience in the US.
