We have a wonderful opportunity for a Data Communications Engineer with our industry-leading national security client in Greenbelt. Due to federal security clearance requirements, applicant must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident with an active Secret Clearance. Responsibilities of the Data Communications Engineer: Provide tier 3 support for escalated incidents Utilize a range of network tools to monitor and troubleshoot issues Monitor and maintain Juniper and Cisco routers and switches and Ciena hardware Participate in the testing and implementation of new network services Integrate new systems and enterprise-wide tools into existing network Update operations documentation, both written and graphical Requirements of the Data Communications Engineer: Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 10 years of experience; or, High school diploma and at least 15 years of experience Advanced knowledge of TCP/IP technology, inclding IP addressing and subnet masking Ability to troubleshoot network issues in both a LAN and WAN environment Familiarity with standard network troubleshooting tools like iPerf and Wireshark Working knowledge of MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio Clear and effective communication skills, written and verbal Ability to respond quickly to real-time data flow problems Flexibility to work both standard and non-standard work hours (weekends and holidays) Industry certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or JNCIA a strong plus Keywords: Data Communications Engineer, Networking, TCP/IP, LAN, WAN, Wireshark, Juniper, Cisco, Ciena, Documentation, CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, Clearance Job, Secret Clearance Job ID: 318287 About Eliassen Group: Eliassen Group provides strategic talent solutions to drive our clients' innovation and business results.
