Associate Systems EngineerJob DescriptionCoStar Group is looking for a Systems Engineer to support our growing company in downtown Washington, DC. CoStar Group is a leading provider of both commercial real-estate information and consumer-facing sites such as Apartments.com. Our System Engineers perform technical planning, system and application builds, evaluates system costs and risks, and general supportability and operations across our technology stack.Responsible for the day-to-day operations and management of a large enterprise environment consisting of 6500+ Windows and Linux VMs, several hundred physical Windows Servers, and several hundred vSphere ESXi servers. Primary duties will include managing the core infrastructure components such as Active Directory, Commvault, SAN Storage, VM deployments, and monitoring of the environment. In addition, daily operational activities will include ticket-related changes to Active Directory, Exchange 2016, Disk resizes, etc.Essential Job FunctionsConfigure and manage Windows and Linux operating systems, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements toBuild, configure, monitor and maintain virtual environmentsBuild, configure, monitor and maintain storage environmentsProvides tier 3 support for escalations from Help DeskKnowledge and experience troubleshooting VMware vSphere and Storage platformsKnowledge and experience troubleshooting Active Directory, DNS , Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint, and Skype for BusinessParticipate in on-call rotations (1 week duration approximately every 8 weeks)Must be able to support infrequent after hours and weekend escalations as needed (aside from on-call rotation)Optimize system operations and resource utilization as well as perform system capacity analysis and planningOther duties as assignedRequired ExperienceMust have a minimum of 4 years of experience configuring and maintaining Windows-based operating systems.Must have a minimum of 4 years configuring and maintaining Active Directory, OU design, AD replication topology, etcMust have a minimum of 2 years of experience configuring and maintaining a virtualization platform (Hyper-V or preferably ESXi)Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience configuring and maintaining an enterprise SAN platform (EMC VNX, Dell Compellent, or HPE 3PAR preferred)Must have working knowledge of an enterprise monitoring application (PRTG, SolarWinds Orion, ManageEngine, Microsoft SCOM, Icinga, etc)Must have working knowledge of Exchange 2010 or higherMust have exposure to a scripting language (Powershell preferred)Preferred ExperienceFamiliarity with Network concepts (eg Routing, Switching, Firewalls)Familiarity with VMware's product line (eg vROPS, vRealize Automation, vRealize Orchestrator)Familiarity with AWSFamiliarity with Chef/PuppetFamiliarity with IBM BigFixStrong scripting experience.
