FUNCTION:Responsible for supporting the Marketing efforts of the Equity Sponsor Group & to support the credit process with Equity Sponsor Group sourced Loans & Leveraged Loans. Responsible for credit analysis on Private Equity (PE) Firm/Fund and assist with Credit Reporting/Analysis on the PE Portfolio.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop and maintain relationships with Private Equity Firms which both invest in Middle Market businesses in the M&T footprint & operate within M&T's risk tolerance parameters to source loan opportunities for the Commercial Bank.Research PE Firms to expand our database of targeted firms, focusing on PE investment, industry and geography and financing structure.Prepare financial projections to support the RM team engaged in a PE sponsored loantransaction.Maintain and update PE Firms database.Assist the Director Marketing & the RM Team in all stages of the loan opportunity from initial expression of interest to closing.Assist the Director Credit in PE Firm/Fund Analysis, Credit Reporting/Analytics.Attend Management Meetings with the Line.Understand and adhere to the Company's risk and regulatory standards, policies and controls in accordance with the Company's Risk Appetite. Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the M&T Bank brand.Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal andexternal audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.Complete other related duties as assigned.NATURE AND SCOPE:Works with limited supervision from the Equity Sponsor Director Marketing/Credit.Position entails interaction with internal and external clients.Position requires regular travel; approximately 25-35%.MANAGERIAL/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:May provide leadership and/or supervision.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years' work experience in Commercial Banking or a related field (Investment Banking, Leveraged Lending, Credit Underwriting), or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years' higher education and/or work experience, including 7 years' work experience in Commercial Banking or a related field.Advanced computer skills and strong knowledge of pertinent database and presentation software.Highly proficient in the use of financial spreadsheets with a working knowledge of financial modeling.IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:MBA and four years previous work experience in Commercial Banking or a related field(Investment Banking, Leveraged Lending, Credit Underwriting).Individual must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment and be able to handle a high level of responsibility.Must possess strong analytical, written and verbal communications skills as well as the ability to work in a team- oriented environment.Ability to present complex subject matter in a straightforward manner, adjusting presentation depending on audience.Ability to work under critical time constraints.Self-motivated, well organized.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel.Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
