Journalism and Public Relations Instructor

The Department of Communication at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Term Instructor position in Journalism and Public Relations. The initial term of appointment is for one nine-month contract (August 2019 through May 2020) with contract renewal contingent on satisfactory performance. Summer teaching is optional and usually available (contingent on enrollment) at 10% of the academic year salary for one Summer course. Responsibilities: The selected candidate will teach four courses per semester, provide career mentoring to undergraduate students, and engage in other formal service to the department, college and/or University, the nature of which is negotiated with the Department Chair.

Required Qualifications: * A master's degree in communication or related field. * Current experience in and familiarity with the Washington, D.C. metro area media/journalism market. * College or university teaching experience. * Significant professional journalism experience. * Significant professional public relations experience. * Experience using social media to support organizational goals.
