Job Announcement

Provides procurement assistance within a team of procurement and financial staff supporting Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS). Procures goods and services; processes invoices and receipts of goods and services and provides guidance to NCS staff in matters of procurement and financial management. Recommends appropriate vendors to staff based on current contacts and integrated with working knowledge of the products and performance of various vendors. Reviews procurement request forms for completeness and accuracy. Researches and analyzes procurement requirements to determine the appropriate procurement method. Creates vendor financial records, and purchase documents in FOCUS/ FILO and processes receiving documents in FILO. Obtains quotes and/or goods through eVA (Virginia's online e-procurement system). Performs thorough reconciliation on procurement processes. Maintains detailed filing system. Resolves disputes with vendors. Back-up to the accounts payable and receivable staff. Makes bank runs when needed.

The functional areas are: general administrative support, project management, and information technology application support.

Salary: the salary will not exceed the midpoint of the advertised salary range.

Employment Standards

Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to high school graduation and three years of experience providing administrative support in the assigned functional area(s).

The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and a Child Protective Services check to the satisfaction of the employer.

  • Requires good judgement, self-starting abilities, knowledge of county resources, and policy and procedures. A self-motivated team player with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Punctual and dependable. Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to multitask. Exhibits great attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent customer service skills with experience in dispute resolution.

Work is generally sedentary in nature. However, incumbent may be required to do some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of items up to 25 pounds. Ability to operate keyboard-driven equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Sufficiently mobile to attend meetings at various locations and make presentations to county staff and community. All duties performed with or without reasonable assistance.
