Executive Director, Virginia Institute for Space and Autonomy
The Office of Research at Old Dominion University is accepting applications for the Executive Director, Virginia Institute for Space and Autonomy (full-time, 12 month) position. This position will establish an internationally recognized institute in space and autonomy, leading regional and statewide efforts to build an ecosystem of researchers, problem solvers, and entrepreneurs who use space-based and autonomous system assets to address socially important and economically valuable problems.
Required Education: Master’s degree in a space or autonomy related field, such as computer science or engineering.
Required Qualifications: Considerable knowledge of research development and commercializing intellectual property in aerospace, engineering, or related technical fields. Strong skills in short- and long-term strategic planning, business plan development and execution, and partnership development in a complex and rapidly evolving context. Demonstrated ability to articulate and communicate a vision, and to effectively engage stakeholders at all levels of the enterprise to work toward that vision. Substantial leadership experience in the public or private sector in a technical field related to the mission of the institute.
