  • On a as needed rotation bases employee will administer bi-annual fitness assessments for military person.
  • (cont) Performs basic physical assessment measurements to include height, weight, timed walk/run test, and muscular strength tests (timed crunches and push-ups)
  • Pre-employment physical examination will be required
  • Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience for GS-0189-05 which knowledge of a standardized body of rules, procedures and operations to one or more indoor/outdoor recreation functions in order to perform the required activities in a fitness and sports environment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
    OR
    Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study or at least 24 semester hours in courses related to recreation or physical education. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.
    OR
    Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. Creditable education will only be in excess of the first 60 semester hours of a course of study leading to a bachelor's degree which is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirements. NOTE: You must submit a copy of official transcripts.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

    1. Basic knowledge of a standardized body of rules, procedures and operations related to one or more indoor/outdoor recreation functions in order to perform the required activities in a fitness and sports environment.
    2. Basic knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures, and automation functions to support office operations such as answer telephone, maintain files/office forms, order supplies, operate a cash register, enter and retrieve data from a computer. A qualified typist is not required.
    3. Ability to follow written and oral instructions, and communicate effectively orally and in writing with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and diplomacy.
    4. Knowledge of a full range of work processing functions and the ability to work independently with little need for direct supervision in completing the assignments involving a sequence of tasks or processes.
    5. Skill in the use of automation software and related equipment.
    6. General knowledge of established safety standards and procedures.

    PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

    VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    IF USING EDUCATION TO QUALIFY: You MUST provide transcripts to support your educational claims. Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

    FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying.
