For the GS 5/7/9: You must have For the GS-5: you must have at least
4 year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree;

3 years of general work experience, 1 year of which was specialized and equivalent to a GS-4;

For the GS-7: You must have at least one 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower
grade (GS-5) that includes all of the following:
? Assisting attorney's with law research;
? Drafting legal documents/briefings and other memorandum;
? Utilizing a computer to conduct legal research,
OR
1 full year of graduate level education; OR superior academic achievement.
For the GS-9: You must have at least one 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower
grade (GS-7) or equivalent that includes all of the following:
? Conducting independent law research;
? Preparing and review of legal documents/briefings and other memorandum;
? Analyzing legal documents; and utilizing a wide variety of forums to conduct the
research of various laws
OR
A master's or equivalent graduate degree
OR
2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree
OR
A LL.B. or J.D.
