Job Summary/Company:
The Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) proactively solicits new residential mortgage business and sells mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals.

In this on-going sales role, the Mortgage Loan Officer continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. A Mortgage Loan Officer's network may consist of Real Estate professionals, professional and personal contacts, as well as other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by the Mortgage Loan Officer's regular participation in business related development opportunities, community efforts to promote homeownership and professional organizations.

The MLO responds to customer inquiries and referrals that are generated from both their own contacts and from other business channels. The MLO conducts interviews with prospective borrowers in order to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advice customers of product/pricing policies and guidelines, and gather any additional required information. The MLO ensures exceptional customer service by maintaining thorough knowledge of lending programs, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, demonstrating a commitment to professional ethics, complying with all Federal and State compliance policies.



Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for originating residential mortgage loans according to established policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance while meeting sales goals.
  • Ensures applications are completed accurately and requests supporting documentation as needed.
  • Qualify borrowers; pull credit; run AUS; price loans; collect documentation; follow-through with client and loan until closing; and own the client experience to ensure expectations are met and customers are happy.
  • Sends application and other required information to the underwriting area and to the processing area to clear any conditions and prepare for closing.
  • Provide consultations and education on the mortgage transaction, teaching about what to expect, setting the timelines and expectations.
  • Develop and maintain a personal business plan which includes all aspects of loan originations from customer service, maintaining and building relationships, networking, marketing/prospecting, knowledge of products and the industry, etc.

Qualifications/Background Profile:
  • Selected applicants will be subject to a background and credit check to meet position eligibility requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field preferred; minimally High School Diploma is required
  • 2+ years of residential mortgage lending experience
  • Active Mortgage Loan Officer license is required
  • Solid understanding of various loan products, i.e., FHA, VA, USDA, Conventional, etc.
  • Must be able to close a minimum of 3-5 loans a month
  • Ability to generate annual production volumes of at least 10-16 million a year for loan officers with 1-2 years of experience and 20+ million a year for loan officers with 2+ years of experience (Must share W-2 and commissions statements)
  • Understanding of Residential Lending regulatory requirements to maintain compliance
  • Have existing relationships with real estate agents/brokers that they can bring with them
  • Must be highly motivated & driven
  • Must want to grow as a leader and be open to growing a team
  • Dedicated to building your book of business
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
