Quantum Annealing Scientist

Key Role:

Provide Scientific, Engineering, and Technical Assistance (SETA) support to a government program manager (PM). Provide technical support and expertise in the area of quantum information science, including the study of quantum enhancement fundamentals through the use of quantum annealing experimentation. Assimilate and integrate technical input from performers and analyze performers' technical deliverables and reports. Conduct technical writing, the development or refinement of briefing materials, and other program documentation using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint. Conduct independent review and summary of related technical literature and emerging technologies and participate in conferences and workshops related to program technical areas. Develop and document testing methodology and protocols, ensuring they align with program technology components. Assess performer results against program metrics and coordinate, align, and schedule technology development tasks across multiple performers and performer continuous analysis of technical progress in comparison to planned cost and schedule.

Basic Qualifications:

-Experience with researching the design and testing of quantum annealing systems, including comprehending associated programming methods

-Experience with researching coherent superconducting qubit physics, device designs, measurement, and applications of quantum annealing

-Experience with researching qubit systems

-Knowledge of the science and measurement of quantum entanglement and its extension across multiple qubits

-Knowledge of decoherence mechanisms

-Knowledge of superconducting electronics

-Ability to obtain a security clearance

-PhD degree in Physics or Electrical Engineering

Additional Qualifications:

-Experience with post-doctorate work or equivalent preferred

-Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently within a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment

-Ability to write concisely and exhibit persuasive speaking and writing expertise

-Ability to convey technical and scientific issues to people with varying levels of expertise accurately

-TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph preferred
