Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Lead E3 Design and Test Engineer (electromagnetic compatibility/electromagnetic interference). The chosen candidate will be the Lead EMI/EMC Engineer responsible for the complete compliance process including technical, cost, and schedule performance at our location outside of Baltimore, Maryland -the main Northrop Grumman facility for Electromagnetics compliance. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Review and tailor EMI/EMC requirements to meet specified product performance for all aspects of Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) compliance, including EMI/EMC/EME/ESD/EMP and lightning Develop models for interference coupling mechanisms, shielding integrity, and circuit/cable interface isolation to mitigate and control conducted/radiated emissions and susceptibility stimuli Create test reports, procedures, and control plans and guidelines The chosen candidate must have knowledge of EMI/EMC testing. Experience with TILE software is a plus. The individual should be a self-starter, versatile, problem solver, and have a willingness to work as part of a team; must be willing to travel occasionally to locations elsewhere in the corporation in order to assist in troubleshooting efforts, attend design review meetings, and work off-shift hours if necessary. Basic Qualifications: BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or other closely related STEM area Minimum of 9 years of relevant experience (or 7 years with an MS) Minimum of 4 years of experience in EMI/EMC compliance engineering, specializing in the areas of design and risk mitigation, test, and project management Experience working with Mathcad (or equivalent) analytical models for radiated electrical fields Experience with lab test equipment including receivers, spectrum analyzers, generators, amplifiers and antennas Technical knowledge of product qualification testing Working knowledge of MIL-STD's 461/464/704 (or equivalent commercial standards) Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, and Visio Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance Preferred Qualifications: Current active US Secret level security clearance or higher Previous EMI/EMC design leadership experience Strong mathematical background and analytical simulation experience Experience working Mathcad (or equivalent) analytical models to estimate parasitic coupling of EMI induced electromagnetic energy through power supplies, chassis, and electronic modules iNARTE certification Knowledge of TILE software Northrop Grumman is committed to hiring and retaining a diverse workforce.
