University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks a Lead Onboarding Coach in the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management.

  • Design, develop, deliver, and assess training programs and materials.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance training content, the training program, evaluations and the overall success of trainees.
  • Organize, update and present the training catalog and other materials.
  • Develop appropriate training using traditional or alternative methods, techniques, and formats including Instructor-led Training (ILT), Self-Paced and Web-based Training (WBT), and blended learning solutions.
  • Serve as a lead subject matter expert on all UMUC policies, procedures, and content; lead review and continual update of training materials to acknowledge changes in policies, procedures and content.
  • Align teaching methods and training content to the strategic vision of Strategic Enrollment Management and UMUC.
  • Evaluate learning solutions to ensure effectiveness and alignment with department and organizational goals.
  • Develop, administer and evaluate written knowledge checks, role play certifications, and other activities to measure trainee performance.
  • Serve as mentor for new admission and/or academic advisors as they progress through onboarding training.
  • Reinforce formal training through discussions, role playing, mock calls, Q&A, exercises, assessments and certifications.
  • Serve as a facilitator for onboarding and ongoing training for the Enrollment Management department in classroom, group, and one-on-one settings.
  • Effectively communicate with trainees, colleagues and department leadership about training content, onboarding schedules and performance updates.
  • Evaluate live and recorded calls, e-mails, chats and texts of new advisors and experienced advisors for training and quality assurance purposes.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning and a minimum of two (2) years providing student recruiting and/or student advising at a higher education institution.
  • Candidates must demonstrate strong attention to detail, accuracy and strong writing and presentation design skills. Required skills include customer service; project management; creative problem solving; time management; interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Candidates should have the ability to create and deliver high quality presentations, facilitate discussions, conduct experiential learning exercises, and evaluate the progress of learners.
  • Candidates must have experience designing and producing online training/resources with learning tools such as HTML, Captivate, Articulate, Camtasia Microsoft Office Suite or other online applications to develop creative training and development solutions.
  • Candidates must be self-motivated with a desire to encourage and assist others to succeed.
  • Candidates must possess the ability to work effectively both independently and as a team; to make informed decisions in a timely fashion; to interact and communicate effectively at multiple levels within the organization; to propose recommendations in an articulate fashion; to successfully manage multiple tasks; and to adapt to changes within a dynamic work environment.

  • Two (2) or more years of combined experience working in a student-facing position in UMUC's Admissions, Advising or Regional Centers teams.
  • Knowledge of Organizational Development theories and practices.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with traditional, online and blended learning methods.
  • Prior experience conducting training and/or quality assurance evaluations.
