Sentara Norfolk General Hospital Emergency Department is hiring an Emergency Department Technician.

Statistics prove that immediate access to quality care makes a lifesaving difference for patients in an emergency situation. Sentara offers several options for emergency care, including our hospital emergency departments, trauma centers, and free-standing emergency departments.

Sentara Healthcare's Emergency Department is focused on providing high-quality patient care and all Sentara Emergency Departments are equipped to handle a variety of emergencies.

Our Emergency Department Techs are dedicated professionals that have the skills and ability to work with the entire Emergency Care team when providing outstanding patient care. The Emergency Department Techs support the Physicians, Advanced Practitioners, and Nurses in implementing plans of care for the patients in their care and perform patient procedures and treatments as directed. We are seeking a team mate that is patient focused and calm under pressure.

Qualified candidate will hold and must present a high school diploma. BLS certification is required within 90 days of hire. Top candidates will also have the following:
  1. EMT-B with state or national certification at time of hire OR
  2. Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School OR
  3. Current student enrolled in clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, and Physical Therapy).

Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code in the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the 3 criteria above.
