  • You must be able to lift and move heavy items weighing up to 40 lbs; other workers assist in lifting and moving objects weighing more than 40 lbs.
  • Performing work requiring continual standing, walking, and frequent stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, and bending.
  • Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position.The approved job elements for this occupation are listed as follows:
    1. Ability to do the work of Cook without more than normal supervision i.e. Cooking and Serving (Screen-out element).
    2. Knowledge of work practices, cleanliness, neatness, and sanitation.
    3. Ability to do quantity cooking following written instructions.
    4. Ability to use kitchen utensils and equipment.
    5. Knowledge of cooking ingredients.
    6. Knowledge of infection control and cleaning procedures for the preparation and storage of food items.
    7. Ability to work as a member of a team.
    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    • This position is designated as an 'emergency' position and the selected candidate will be considered an 'emergency' employee and will be required to be available, ready, willing, and able to report for duty under all circumstances, e.g., inclement weather, government closings and holidays, lapse in appropriations, non-emergency and emergency situations for operation 24 hours a day and 365 days per year coverage
    • A one-year probationary period may be required upon selection/placement.
