  • GS-14: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal Service, obtained in either the private or public sector: developing and overseeing regulatory impact and economic analyses through the management, synthesis, and analysis of large datasets for regulatory programs. These qualifications must be clearly referenced in your resume.

    AND

    Education Requirement:
    Transcripts (official or unofficial) must be submitted. If selected, official transcripts will be required.
    • A full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in economics that included at least 21 semester hours (31.5 quarter hours) in economics and 3 semester hours (4.5 quarter hours) in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
    OR
    • Combination of education and experience: education must include courses equivalent to a major in economics, as previously described, plus appropriate experience or additional education. To be qualifying your experience may have included the following or must be sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the following:
      • Individual economic research assignments requiring planning, information assembly, analysis and evaluation, conclusions and report preparation.
      • Supervisory or project coordination assignments involving a staff of professional economists, and requiring the evaluation and interpretation of economic information. OR
      • Teaching assignments in a college or university that included both class instruction in economics subjects and one of the following; (1) personal research that produced evidence of results; (2) direction of graduate theses in economics; or (3) service as a consultant or advisor on technical economics problems.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    TIME-IN-GRADE: If you are a current career or career-conditional federal employee applying for promotion under Merit Promotion you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks in positions at the next level lower than the position being filled.
