Viamo seeks a committed Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance, administration and compliance functions of a fast-growing, multinational social enterprise. Viamo is a global social enterprise that offers innovative mobile technologies to improve the flow of information between individuals and the humanitarian and development organizations dedicated to helping them. Our diverse team of ~120 people operates in 25 countries across sub-Saharan African and South-East Asia, and we aim to grow to 40 countries by 2023. In addition to a deep foundation in financial management and analysis, you will have experience with leading accounting and compliance processes across multinational entities. You will join our 6-person senior leadership team and help set the overall direction of the organization. Position You will develop our forward-looking financial strategy: You will operate as a strategic partner on Viamo's leadership team, providing leadership over financial plans and budgeting You'll analyze financial reports and recommend ways to achieve financial goals and improve profitability You'll contribute to strategy and major decisions related to revenue growth, overall company profitability, promotions, pricing, and operational efficiency You'll support the company in liaising with investors, and targeting future up-round fundraising. Responsibilities Accounting/Finance Manage Viamo's Financial Controller, who has responsibility over all accounting and finance activities within the company Develop improvements to our accounting system, to support real time monitoring and accurate project costing Develop the annual operating budget and long range financial forecasts Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that all liabilities, legal and regulatory requirements are met Optimize existing banking, investment, and debt strategies for growth Work with Viamo's accounting firm and lead Viamo's annual review engagement and consolidated group financial statements Achieve tax compliance and periodic tax reporting for all entities Update and improve processes for internal controls, budget administration, cash and credit management, and accounting Optimize compliance with accounting standards and government contractor requirements Strategy and Planning Provide timely and accurate reporting on business performance, including financial/P&L and KPI's/metrics Analyze business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues, identify cost-saving opportunities, and provide advice to Viamo departments Plan growth investments, evaluating return on investment and fit with Viamo's 5-year plan Participates in all senior management team meetings and board meetings. Contracts Management Manage Viamo's Contracts Manager, who in turn takes responsibility for client and contract requirements on large multi-year contracts Ensure the financial reporting function for all contracts Advise on budgeting for contract proposals Lead the process to obtain a Negotiated Indirect Cost Rate (NICRA) for US Government contracts Human Resources Supervise a remote team responsible for all administrative aspects of our human resources including job postings, employment contracts, and HR policies Objectives and Key Performance Indicators Revenue Growth: Help develop and execute a strategy that puts Viamo on a path of rapid and sustainable growth Core Operating Margin: Increase the profitability of Viamo's core business (excluding growth investments) Investment Raised: Secure additional rounds of funding to resource Viamo's ambitious growth plans Requirements Motivated by a mission to improve lives in developing countries Ability to build and inspire teams, including remote/distributed teams Ability to create and refine processes, and roll these out through a global organization Ability to learn quickly, pull in experienced knowledge, and apply it. Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting or Finance. MBA, CPA, Chartered Accountant preferred International work experience, including the consolidation of multinational subsidiaries and transfer pricing Familiar with USAID reimbursable (time and materials) contracts, and able to navigate USAID compliance and reporting requirements Experience with software R&D capitalization (eg SOP 98-1) Strong verbal and written communications skills Ten years' work experience Knowledge of GAAP and ASPE foundations Experience with and strong interest in working with the senior management team to develop a strategy for rapid and controlled growth Accustomed to working with remote teams, including building deep, enjoyable long-distance work relationships French language skills desirable but not required Other information Reasons to join Viamo: "What is really attractive for me is where Viamo is in its evolution. Team and Reporting Structure The position is part of Viamo's senior management team and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. We're flexible on location, as we're more focused on finding the right person. You could be based in Washington (DC), Canada, or in one of our major markets in Africa or Asia.
