Summary: As a key member of the Executive Management team, the Chief Financial Officer will report to the President and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company. This position will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, budgeting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance and private and institutional financing. The chief financial officer is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results. Provides leadership in the development for the continuous evaluation of short and long-term strategic financial objectives.. Evaluates and advises on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/ strategies and regulatory action.. Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives. Monitor and direct the implementation of strategic business plans. Develop financial and tax strategies. Manage the capital request and budgeting processes. Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction. Participate in key decisions as a member of the executive management team. Maintain in-depth relations with all members of the management team. Manage the accounting, investor relations, legal, tax, and treasury departments. Manage any third parties to which functions have been outsourced. Oversee the company's transaction processing systems. Implement operational best practices. Oversee employee benefit plans, with emphasis on maximizing a cost-effective benefits package. Review sales and non-disclosure contracts before execution. Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions with the leadership team. Oversee the issuance of financial information. Report financial results to the board of directors. Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile. Monitor all open legal issues involving the company, and legal issues affecting the industry. Construct and monitor reliable control systems. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage. Ensure that the company complies with all legal and regulatory requirements. Ensure that record keeping meets the requirements of auditors and government agencies. Report risk issues to the audit committee of the board of directors. Maintain relations with external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations. Monitor cash balances and cash forecasts. Arrange for debt and equity financing. Invest funds based upon the Investment Committee of the Board recommendations. Participate in conference calls with the investment community. Maintain banking relationships. Qualifications. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position is responsible for the direct supervision of the Director of Finance, and finance department. Responsible for the enforcement of all Company policies in a fair, accurate and timely manner. Provide input for all hiring decisions as required for department management. Responsible for the accurate and timely completion of all employee evaluations, professional development plans and recommendations for scheduled wage increases. Responsible for the department morale and motivation as measured by department by various benchmark items pertaining to safety, productivity, turnover, etc.. QUALIFICATIONS: Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization and with staff at remote locations essential. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses. High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. Should have experience in partnering with an executive team, and have a high level of written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of executives, clients, customers, and the general public.. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.. REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid State Driver's License, which meets Company requirements of the Fleet Management Policy and insurance requirements..
