  • To qualify for this position at the grade GS-09 grade level, you must meet at least one requirement below:
    A. Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or completion of at least two full academic years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or LL.B or J.D, if related, in business, public administration, management, or a directly related field of study which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by this position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be determined from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as equivalent to 1 year of full-time study.

    B. Specialized Experience: Have at least one full-time year (12-months) of specialized work experience at or equivalent to the GS-7 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either public or private sectors), which includes:
    • Implementing customer service standards, guidelines, procedures and systems to ensure high quality seminar experiences for participants.
    • Coordinating facilities and services in order to maintain and continuously improve the quality of food, lodging, facilities support, maintenance and/or other hotel and center services.
    • Advising staff on new procedures or regulations related to information to be provided for use in seminars, conferences, or reports.
    • Compiling statistical and financial data to maintain the overall budget for a division following established procedures.
    • Using word processing programs, communications (Email, Internet) graphics and spreadsheet software, such as Adobe PDF, software for tabulating seminar statistics and scoring of psychological assessment instruments, such as the Myers-Briggs Type Indicators), etc.

    C. Combination of Education and Experience: You may qualify for this position if you have a combination of the education described in "A" above and experience described in "B" above such that the percentage of required experience plus the percentage of required education equals 100%. (To calculate, first determine your total number of graduate semester hours, and divide that number by 18. Next, divide the total number of months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, add your percentage of education and experience. The two percentages must total at least 100% for you to qualify based on your combination of education and experience.) Only graduate education in excess of one year (i.e., 18 semester hours) may be combined with experience.

    Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS9 level.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    Relocation expenses will not be paid.
