Applicants must have attained the first professional law degree (LL.B. or J.D.) from an accredited law school and be an active member AND in good standing of the bar of a state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.
Candidates should have knowledge in antitrust or consumer protection laws. Candidates should have excellent oral and written communication skills and be able to work effectively with other people, as well as exercise sound judgment. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience working on or with the HSR Act, the HSR Rules, and the HSR filing process.
At the GS-15 level: In addition to a law degree and active bar membership, you must have 60 months of legal experience after graduation from law school. At least 18 months of your legal experience after graduation from law school must be comparable to the GS-14 level.
Qualified candidates will have significant litigation experience, including experience leading case teams in litigation. They must have a thorough understanding of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the Federal Rules of Evidence. Qualified candidates also must have knowledge of controlling statutes and regulations authorizing FTC involvement or action (e.g., the Federal Trade Commission Act; Sherman Act; Clayton Act) as well as relevant case law pertaining to the relevant subject matter sufficient to develop appropriate legal opinions and recommendations for further legal action.
Please note that prior experience, legal and non-legal experience, gained before completing law school cannot be used to satisfy the post law school experience requirements.
