Assistant/Associate Director of JD & Online LLM Admissions

The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions will have responsibilities within the JD program, the online LLM program, scholarship administration, and other duties as assigned. Responsibilities: JD program: The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions must be familiar with the law school's admission requirements, curriculum, and miscellaneous factual data, including but not limited to, faculty/student ratio, costs of attendance, admissions and enrollment statistics, bar passage, residency requirements, and career placement data. The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions will then use this knowledge to respond to inquiries - phone, email, and personal- from prospective students and their families. The Assistant/Associate Director also will provide counseling and tours for prospective students.

The Assistant/Associate Director will assist with organizing and/or attend weekday, evening, and weekend recruiting events, open houses, information sessions, and other events and initiatives. The Assistant/Associate Director's duties will require weekday and weekend overnight travel and travel via airplane and rental car. The Assistant/Associate Director must maintain a valid driver's license and remain eligible to rent cars under George Mason University's Office of Risk Management guidelines.

The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions will participate in the JD application review process.

Online LLM program: The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions will oversee the recruiting of online LLM students by the University's online education team and will have primary responsibility for the online LLM application review and admissions process. The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions will be the primary point of contact for online LLM applicants from application complete to admissions decision and will be expected to assist with the onboarding of the online LLM students each semester.

Scholarship Administration: The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions will assist the Assistant Dean for Admissions & Enrollment Management with scholarship administration for incoming and returning students each semester. The Assistant/Associate Director of Admissions will serve as a liaison between the law school's Admissions Office and the university's Financial Aid Office.

Reports to: Assistant Dean for Admissions & Enrollment Management.

Required Qualifications: * JD/ Advanced Degree or Bachelor's degree with at least 5 years' experience in higher education admissions * Strong writing and editing skills * Exceptional communication skills * Strong organizational, administrative, and interpersonal skills that indicate an ability to work independently, as well as part of a team * Ability to work effectively and utilize a range of communication channels with students, faculty, administrators, staff, and members of the bench and bar from a wide and diverse range of backgrounds * Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (or similar software) * Ability to travel independently by air, automobile, train, or bus Preferred Qualifications: * Experience in admissions, student advising, or other university affairs setting, preferably related to legal education * Experience working with international students * Experience with scholarship administration and/or financial aid * Experience with ACES2 * Experience with Banner * Experience with group presentations
