Tenure-Track or Tenured Faculty - Department of Information Sciences and Technology

The George Mason University Department of Information Sciences and Technology, in the Volgenau School of Engineering (VSE), invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at the rank of assistant, associate or professor beginning Fall 2019. Exceptionally strong senior candidates may also be considered and must have an established record of excellence in research and teaching. These candidates will be eligible for tenured associate professor or professor positions.

While applicants in all areas of information sciences and technology will be considered, we are particularly interested in candidates who specialize in data analytics and machine learning. The candidates should in addition have the ability and experience to teach courses in areas such as data analytics, data bases, machine learning.

Responsibilities: The candidate will be responsible for: * Establishing a competitive research program in his/her area(s) of expertise; * Develop and/or continue multidisciplinary collaboration; and * Satisfy teaching and service requirements consistent with the department policies.

Required Qualifications: Candidates must have an earned PhD before the start date of the position in one of the following fields: information sciences, information technology, computer science, or a related field. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of excellence in research with the potential to establish an independent research program and a commitment to excellence in university teaching.

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred candidates will be those who have experience or ability to teach courses in at least one of areas of data analytics and/or machine learning.

The position will be housed in the Department of Information Sciences & Technology. The department has 28 full-time faculty members and in addition to bachelor's and master's programs in information technology, the department also participates in an interdisciplinary BS in Cyber Security Engineering, MS in Data Analytics Engineering, and PhD in Information Technology (concentration in IST) offered by the Volgenau School of Engineering.
