Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor Faculty Positions, Public/Community Health

The Department of Global and Community Health at George Mason University (GMU), invites applications for two full-time term assistant professors (9-month, non-tenure track, state-funded) starting August 2019. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, participating in university governance, professional and public service, and performing related assignments such as supervising senior projects, student internships and practicums, and student advising. Annual appointments will depend on budget and performance. Responsibilities: The selected candidate for this position will be expected to teach four courses per semester in a variety of public health areas including, global health, public health foundations, health behavior theories, public health promotion methods, planning and evaluation, public health leadership and advocacy, and social determinants of health.

Required Qualifications: Successful candidates will have a doctoral degree in a public health discipline or closely related field and a record of effective teaching.

Preferred qualifications: A MPH or a MSPH from a CEPH accredited school or program of public health. Applicants with CHES, MCHES, or CPH certification, online teaching experience, and professional experience in public health are most desirable.

Founded in 2006, the Department of Global and Community Health offers BS in Community Health with concentrations in Clinical Science and Global Health, a MS in Global Health, and an CEPH accredited MPH with concentrations in Community Health Promotion, Epidemiology, Food Security and Nutrition, Global Health, Health Policy, Public Health Communication, and Public Health Practice, enrolling nearly 600 undergraduate and over 100 graduate students. The department includes 17 full-time faculty members with backgrounds in the social and behavioral sciences, environmental health, epidemiology, and global health who are committed to the ideals of health equity and social justice among underserved domestic and global populations.
