Naval Shipbuilder, Lead

Key Role:

Serve as an engineer and manager providing technical and management oversight to develop operational prototype and production level unmanned maritime vehicles to fill existing mission requirements and function as force multipliers across several mission sets. Support technical analysis tasks on behalf of the Navy or DoD program offices to primarily support unmanned surface vehicle (USV) development and associated shipyard production. Work with automation, development and production of Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems, platform-level autonomy architecture, mission-level autonomy architecture, mission or capability planning, or reliability or maintainability of systems.

Basic Qualifications:

-8+ years of experience with US Navy, DoD, DoD contractor, or government civilian role leveraging complex analytic techniques to address programmatic, operational, or strategic issues

-3+ years of experience with new construction shipbuilding, contract award, contract management, production management, new ship construction, testing and sea trials

-Experience with leadership of diverse technical teams or working groups

-Experience in a leadership role in a Navy shipyard supporting and producing surface ship hulls  

-Experience with interfacing with various Naval activities, including Warfare Centers and University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs)

-Knowledge of Naval surface ship architecture, development, and fabrication

-Ability to articulate complex issues to Navy or DoD decision makers

-Secret clearance

-BS degree in Engineering or Naval Architecture

Additional Qualifications:

-3+ years of experience with working in a ship building program office at the PAPM level preferred

-3+ years of experience in working with SEA 05 or former Ship Design Manager preferred

-Experience with former Surface Warfare Qualified Naval Officer, Engineering Duty Officer, or GS employee with significant shipbuilding

-Possession of excellent analytical, operational, problem-solving, and organizational skills

-Possession of excellent oral and written communications skills

-MS degree in Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or System Engineering preferred
