The Senior Software Developer provides support to our front-end and back-end development efforts, including user interface initiatives. This highly visible role will serve as an expert who owns critical next generation functionality on our platform. A technical lead; responsible for all technical aspects including architecture, design, development, schedule and end-to-end delivery. May lead the development effort; with a small team of developers while leveraging a much larger ecosystem product development. This person has a passion for technology, sharing knowledge, enjoys creating and improving software. The incumbent likes the challenge of using technology to support business needs in an agile environment. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following essential job functions:

  • Serves as the technical lead, including support for all stakeholders and owns all aspects of the consumer-facing application stack.
  • Responsible for the conceptualization, design, development, underlying, architecture and related tool development.
  • Works with software architects, developers, QA and product management to help define the roadmap and take ownership of delivering on it.
  • Leads in the entire product lifecycle, from initial explorations through final implementation of deliverables such as use cases, tasks flows, for development and QA.
  • Partners with and support the platform engineering teams throughout the development cycle to ensure the product is built according to specs and broader product strategy.
  • Leads integration development initiatives with 3rd party systems accountable for functionality, quality, performance, reliability and scalability.
  • Works with multiple stakeholders such as product management platform engineering and services is required.
  • Participates in an Agile environment process, owning a specific set of software, along with their team, including the program owners, other developers and QA.
  • Mentor to junior developers.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with all the other developers.
  • Uses software best practices and SOLID design principles in object-oriented programming. Also, must understand and have a good knowledge of security best practices (e.g. SQL injection, XSS and other exploits)
  • Performs other duties and assignments associated with the position that are reasonably assigned to support the overall needs of the business
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field (computer science or engineering); Master's degree is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of (3) years, leading design and architecture efforts.
  • A minimum (5) years of relevant development experience, preferably for web applications environment.
  • Strong expertise in web development is a must including experience in component-based architectures like Angular, Sencha or KnockoutJs. Also, HTML/XHTML, CSS and JavaScript.
  • Strong experience in creating and maintaining websites, web services, windows services and jobs.
  • Knowledge of agile software development methodologies, service-oriented architecture and object-oriented programming methodologies required.
  • Strong knowledge of software development best practices, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and operations a must. Knowledge of user interface design principles.
  • SQL and best practices around database architecture, design and performance tuning is a plus .
  • Solid understanding of website usability, accessibility and browser compatibility issues required.
  • Experience with Drupal or PHP is a plus.
  • Experience with all aspects of the software development lifecycle: design, functional and technical requirements, coding debugging, testing, release and operational support is needed.
  • Experience with SSO is also a plus.

Web Technologies: Advanced proficiency with HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, jQuery and JSON. Strong background in modern frameworks such as Angular, Senza, or Knockout JS. Also use of a RESTful web services. Also need advanced proficiency in the Microsoft and/or Java tech stacks:
  • ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, MVC, Entity Framework, IIS
  • and/or JSP, Spring, Tomcat, Nginx or other web servers

Server-Side Technologies: Advanced proficiency in Java and/or Microsoft C#/.NET Core. Strong background in Java Spring framework and/or ASP.NET MVC Frameworks. Also, service-oriented designs and technologies; microservices, RESTful web services, JAX-WS, SOAP and WSDL. Experience and understanding of SSO and how it works is a plus. Experience with container platforms such as Docker and container orchestrators such as Kubernetes is a plus. Good knowledge in Oracle or SQL Server a plus.

Cloud Technologies: Amazon Web Services, or other cloud technologies a plus. Participate in designing and developing cloud applications, including web applications and microservices. Also, a plus with experience using DevOps in the cloud.

Leadership and Soft Skills: Must be proficient in the use of MS Office applications such as; Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel are required. Exceptional verbal, written, listening and interpersonal communication skills are a must. Strong leadership and analytical skills needed. Ability to drive projects to successful, on-time completion and influence product and technical stakeholders. Experience in the SAFe Agile methodology is a plus.
