Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. CG-14: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 13 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience performing financial or economic analyses related to capital markets risk associated innovative financial instruments; or assisting in the development of, or compliance with, regulatory proposals or interpretations that govern regulatory capital and/or capital markets activities.
CG-15: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 14 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is experience performing financial or economic analyses to identify sources of capital markets risk associated innovative financial instruments or taking a leadership role in the development of, or compliance with, regulatory proposals or interpretations that govern regulatory capital and/or capital markets activities.

If you are found qualified, you will be placed in one of three categories: Best Qualified, Highly Qualified, or Qualified. Within these categories, candidates eligible for veterans’ preference will receive selection priority over non-veterans.
- Knowledge of economic principles, regulatory and economic capital requirements of bank and/or other financial services firms.
- Knowledge of complex financial instruments and their use in financial institutions including, but not limited to Collateralized Debt Obligations, Collateralized Mortgage Obligations, interest only and principal only stripped mortgage backed securities, hybrid capital instruments, real estate investment conduits, structured notes and other on-balance sheet instruments.
- Ability to communicate effectively, in writing, with senior management, financial institution executives and/or examiners.
- Ability to communicate, orally, with senior management, financial institution executives and/or examiners.
- Knowledge of portfolio management or trading risk measurement systems employed in financial institutions.
