Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. CG-11:  Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 9 level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is experience assisting in performing technical and oversight work in the management and development of internal control review systems and conducting post-payment reviews of outside counsel.

CG-12:  Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the grade 11 level in the Federal service.  Specialized experience is experience performing technical and managerial work in the management and development of internal control review systems and conducting post-payment reviews of outside counsel; providing advice on overseeing a nationwide risk management program.

There is no substitution of education for the experience for this position.

The assessment questionnaire is designed to measure your ability in the following competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs):

  1. Knowledge of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act, FDIC regulations and policies and other laws which affect the open and closed bank functions, administrative law and banking law in general in order to develop reporting systems for internal control reviews.
  2. Knowledge of the principles of legal research and effective legal writing sufficient to respond to administrative and operational issues.
  3. Knowledge of auditing, sampling and interviewing techniques.
  4. Ability to ensure that information technology plans (ITP) developed by law firms can adequately address any identified weakness and minimize the risks associated with cybersecurity breaches.
