For the GS-12 level: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Examples of such experience include serving as a legislative assistant, legislative director or equivalent position in a Senator or in a Congressman's office or for a Congressional Committee, where duties included preparing briefing materials and attending meetings with and on behalf of the Member of Congress; coordinating responses to inquiries from members of the legislative branch; and other substantial work products.
For the GS-13 level: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of such experience include serving as a legislative assistant, legislative director or equivalent position in a Senator or in a Congressman's office or for a Congressional Committee with oversight of appropriations, foreign relations, or defense, where duties included managing a legislative portfolio; preparing briefing materials and attending meetings with and on behalf of the Member of Congress; drafting legislation and gathering Congressional support for that legislation; traveling with Congressional delegations to foreign countries building support coalitions within the Congress or externally to support initiatives and goals; and other substantial work products.
Proficiency in Spanish or Arabic is desired but not required.
